The son and widow of late rapper Eazy-E have reportedly settled a dispute over the use of the terms “N.W.A.” and “Ruthless.”
According to the Blast, Tomica Woods-Wright and Eric Wright reached a decision that will prohibit Eazy’s son, Eric, from using the names “Straight Outta Compton,” “N.W.A.” and “Ruthless.”
Per the Blast, the deal will allow Eric rights to the name “Rich & Ruthless.”
The battle stemmed from a 2017 dispute in which Tomica’s Ruthless Records, previously owned by Eazy, sued Eric along with N.W.A. entertainment. According to Tomica, Ruthless Records owns rights to trademarks related to N.W.A. Entertainment’s name for use of profit. Tomica claimed that Eric was illegally profiting off of his father.
In a countersuit, Eric claimed that his stepmother had abandoned rights to the specified trademarks by failing to use them.
