Cash Money Records has added a new artist to its roster. On Tuesday (July 17), Birdman revealed California rapper Saviii 3rd is signed to the label.
Birdman posted a photo of himself posing with Saviii and manager Wack 100 and wrote in the caption, “Thugginn @saviii3rd @wack100 #CMW #dropping #kingofhiphop @birdman5star,” Saviii posted the same photo on his IG page, adding in the caption, “Cash Money Business.. stop asking.” XXL has confirmed the signing with Birdman’s reps.
While it’s uncertain when Saviii will drop his first offering of new music with Cash Money, the Long Beach, Calif. rapper has been making a name for himself on SoundCloud. In June, Saviii dropped the song “Batter Up,” which has already racked up over 25,000 streams. The rapper has also released the songs “Another Day” and “Really Outside” featuring Dada P.
As for Cash Money, while the label has added Saviii, it may soon be losing Drake. On the song “Is There More” from his new album Scorpion, Drizzy hints that his next album may be the last one with the label. “Soon as the album drop, I’m out of the deal,” he spits.
The label has also lost Lil Wayne, who was recently released from Cash Money after reaching a settlement with the imprint. While Weezy’s lawyer wouldn’t reveal the exact details of the settlement, he did say that Wayne now owns his assets, music and himself.
