XXXTentacion Death Overshadowed Pittsburgh rapper’s murder…
Unfortunately another rap artist was killed this week, the same day as Florida rapper XXXTentacion. On Monday June 18th 4:30pm, Pittsburgh rapper Jimmy Wopo, and another man were found shot in a vehicle parked on the middle of the street in the Pittsburgh Hill District neighborhood the young rapper helped make famous. Both men were transported to a local hospital where the rapper Jimmy Wopo, real name Travon Smart later died. Pittsburgh police stated that the other unidentified victim in the car at the time of the shooting, was in stable condition.
Jimmy Wopo first came to fame when he dropped his 2016 song “Elm Street,” which highlighted life in his beloved hometown hood, Hill District. The Hill District trap star was up next to represent the “Black & Yellow, city” worldwide with fellow Pittsburgh rappers Wiz Khalifa and Mac Miller, who came out of Pittsburgh to become giants in the music industry. Only 21 years old, Jimmy Wopo’s future was looking bright after releasing several projects, selling out shows, getting featured on sites like Worldstarhiphop.com FADER.com, he was next to blow.
